Summary:

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is a book about the curious boy Tom Sawyer. He
lives with his Aunt Polly and his half brother Sid. together they live in the small town of Mississippi River town in St Petersburg, Missouri. Tom falls in love with Becky Thatcher, the new girl in town, and persuades her to be “engaged†to him. Their little romance falls apart after Becky come to know that Tom has been “engaged before. To a girl named amy Lawrence. Tom is best friends with Huckleberry Finn, son of the town drunk. They go to investigate the so called cure for warts. While in the graveyard Tom and Huckleberry witness the murder of Doctor Robinson. Tom, Huck, and Joe venture out to the island on the river. Pretending to be pirates they leave their friends and family behind. Tom and
Joe both have a family to come back to. Huck is alone if he comes back. Even having fun they all get homesick. Joe and Huck are ready to leave when Tom entertains them once more. They all end up getting even more sick and Tom leaves to create a plan for coming back. The city believes they drowned and Tom has to hide to not give himself away. He overhears their funeral will be held on that Sunday so he makes plans to come back with all three on Sunday to come back during their own funeral.

Main Idea:

The Main Idea behind The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is the joys of childhood when the world is free and full of wonder. Children don’t have to worry about the heavy responsibilities of adults. Many children are troublemakers but their families still love them.
